Mundaka 2008 - Friday

It was an early start all round as the 2 Kings and I left Derry and Jonny and Andy left Portrush before midnight on Thursday for the drive to Dublin to catch the 6am flight to Santander. After a traffic free drive we checked the boats in and with no hassles at all found ourselves on our way to Mundaka.

After arriving in Santander we decided to have a look at some of the beaches around the coast for a surf, but as everything was blown onshore the decision was made to head for Mundaka with the hope that the famous wave would be working.

On arrival in Mundaka it was straight to the square to have a look at the wave and we weren’t disappointed with a perfect 3-4ft left hander running across the bay. Any thoughts of having a sleep at this stage were out the window with everyone rushing to get changed and into the water. A perfect session was had by all with Jonny taking some of the biggest set waves of the day.

Contented with a great surf, everyone went to bed early and got well rested for the next day, hoping that the surf would be similar to what we has just surfed.
